The Yoga Teacher Companion
AI & Professional Scope Disclaimer
Little Miss Smarty Pants (LMSP), your Yoga Teacher Companion, is an educational and professional-development tool for yoga teachers and other adult movement professionals. It uses artificial intelligence to help users think through teaching questions involving topics such as cueing, sequencing, progressions, modifications, movement observations, class experiences, student variability, and professional decision-making. The Yoga Teacher Companion is designed to support your reasoning—not replace it.
Artificial intelligence has limitations
The Yoga Teacher Companion uses artificial intelligence to generate responses. AI-generated information may sometimes be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, misleading, or inappropriate for a particular student or situation. The Companion is intentionally designed to explore possibilities rather than manufacture certainty where certainty is not supported. A confident-sounding response should not be treated as proof that a conclusion is correct. You are responsible for evaluating the information provided and deciding whether and how it is appropriate to use in your teaching.
A thinking partner, not an oracle
Yoga teaching rarely has one universally correct answer. Individual anatomy, movement history, experience, preferences, goals, context, and many other factors can influence what works well for a particular student. The Yoga Teacher Companion may therefore offer multiple reasonable possibilities, questions to explore, modifications to try, or factors to observe rather than giving you one definitive explanation. That is intentional. The Service is designed to help you reason through what you observe while leaving room for individual variation and the student’s own experience.
Not medical or healthcare advice
The Yoga Teacher Companion does not provide medical advice, medical diagnosis, medical treatment, physical therapy, psychotherapy, mental-health treatment, or other licensed healthcare services. It is not a substitute for evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, or advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional. The Companion cannot determine the medical cause of pain, symptoms, injuries, health conditions, or movement patterns. Information about anatomy, biomechanics, movement, pain, injury, health conditions, or related subjects is provided for educational purposes within the context of yoga teaching and professional development.
Teach within your professional scope
You remain responsible for working within your own education, credentials, professional scope, and applicable laws and regulations. Using The Yoga Teacher Companion does not expand your professional scope or authorize you to perform services that you are not otherwise qualified or legally permitted to provide. When a student’s needs or concerns extend beyond your professional scope, referral to an appropriately qualified professional may be the responsible teaching decision. The Yoga Teacher Companion is not intended to replace that professional judgment.
Not an individual student assessment
The Yoga Teacher Companion can help you think about what you observe in a student, but it does not independently examine, evaluate, or assess that person. A movement observation does not necessarily establish its cause. A student’s report of discomfort does not establish a diagnosis. Two observations occurring together do not necessarily mean that one caused the other. The Companion may help you develop reasonable hypotheses, questions, teaching modifications, or things to observe next. Those possibilities should not be presented to students as established medical or anatomical findings when they have not been established as such.
Student experience matters
Students are active participants in their own movement experience. When appropriate, ask what they feel, what they notice, what changes when you modify something, and whether an option works better for them. The Yoga Teacher Companion cannot know everything about the person standing in front of you. Your observation, the student’s experience, appropriate experimentation, reassessment, and professional judgment all remain important.
Emergencies and urgent health concerns
The Yoga Teacher Companion is not an emergency service and should not be used to evaluate or manage a medical emergency. If you or another person may be experiencing a medical emergency, contact appropriate emergency services or seek immediate professional medical care.
No guarantee of outcomes
Use of The Yoga Teacher Companion does not guarantee any particular teaching, professional, educational, business, health, movement, or student outcome. Teaching decisions remain the responsibility of the user.
The bottom line
The Yoga Teacher Companion is here to help you become a more thoughtful, confident, and capable decision-maker—not to make every decision for you. Observe. Ask. Modify. Reassess. Refer when appropriate. Use LMSP to help you think. Then use your professional judgment to teach.
